O.A.K.S - Outdoor Action KidsThe Outdoor Action Kids is a program sponsored by the Bob Jones Nature Center And Preserve to provide outdoor volunteer opportunities for students ages 11-14 (grades 6-8). O.A.K.S, as they are called, will perform basic outdoor conservation tasks while helping the staff and adult volunteers maintain the 76-acre park. They will also be given opportunities to interact with native wildlife and visitors at the Nature Center's educational facility. The goal of the O.A.K.S program is to help foster an appreciation for nature and promote conservation through fun and educational experiences. Area youth who are interested in learning more about the environment and wish to help educate others are encouraged to apply. Two annual sessions are held each Spring and Fall. Volunteers work one session, consisting of 8 Saturdays from 10:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. The completed session will result in 20 hours of community service.
