Directions To Bird Walk Locations
Please note:
If it is raining at the starting time of the hike, the hike will be cancelled.
The trails can be muddy after rainy periods. Red mud can stain white sneakers. Wear shoes that can be ruined by the mud. A hat or cap with a sun visor is always recommended. Rain will bring out mosquitoes. Be sure to bring insect repellant and sun screen. Do NOT wear white clothing, the reflected ultra violet light causes the birds to quickly scatter.
Most hikes take 2 hours and are of little to moderate difficulty. All hikes are so designed so that people needing to leave early can get back to their cars at approximate half-way points.
The Southlake Ornithological Society hikes are designed primarily for adults however the Bob Jones Nature Center provides wonderful trail activities for children's opportunities.
